Green Things Farm Collective is a community-centered, organic, and no-till farm located just outside of Ann Arbor, Michigan. We specialize in the direct sale of produce and flowers to our local eaters through our farm stand, farm memberships, farmers markets, local restaurants, and a variety of local grocery and food distribution programs. Job Title: Farm Stand Specialist
$18–$20/hour, based on experience and demonstrated performance
Season: March 11 – December 10 (end date flexible)
Green Things Farm Collective is hiring a Farm Stand Specialist to support the daily operation of our on-farm retail stand throughout the 2026 season. This role works closely with the Farm Stand Manager to ensure the stand is well-stocked, visually appealing, organized, and financially successful.
The Farm Stand is one of the most public-facing parts of our farm. The Farm Stand Specialist serves as an ambassador of our values, while balancing hands-on retail work, inventory management, and light administrative tasks.
Farm Stand Season & Schedule
Opening Day: Thursday, March 19
Closing Day: Sunday, December 6
Hours of Operation: Daily, 8:00 AM–8:00 PM
Staffing Model: Hybrid staffing with coverage during peak sales days and hours
Weekly Schedule Expectations
Early Season (March–late April):
Wednesday–Friday, approx. 15–20 hours/week
Main Season:
Wednesday–Saturday
Wednesday: 9:00 AM–4:00 PM (earlier start possible)
Thursday & Friday: 9:00 AM–6:00 PM
Saturday: 12:00 PM–6:00 PM
Schedules may shift slightly based on operational needs, with priority given to high-traffic sales periods.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Staff the farm stand during peak days and hours (Thursday - Saturday)
Provide friendly, knowledgable customer service.
Support the full weekly workflow of the farmstand.
Manage backstock movement and orgnization between barn storage and the stand.
Maintain awarness ofproduce quality, retail displays, and cooler inventory
Work with the Farm Stand Manager to keep the stand consistantly well-stocked.
Care for and maintain seedlings in the seedling sale hoop.
Receive deliveries, process vendor payments, and support vendor relationships.
Ensure products are accuratly priced, barcoded, and displayed.
Use KioskBuddy (Square) and Airtable systems once trained.
Assist with sales, inventory, and product performance data collection.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strongly prefer 2+ years of retail experience
Excellent attention to detail and quality control
Strong organizational skills in a small, seasonal retail space
Ability to track and manage inventory across many seasonal products
Clear and effectiv communication with customers, vendors, and farm staff
Comfortable balancing physical work, customer service, and administrative tasks
Proficiency with POS systems and inventory tools (training provided)
Job Title: Field Crew Member
$17-$19/hr, seasonal raises available after 30 day probationary period and based on skill development, performance, and specialization
Benefits:
Full-time crew members receive up to 40 hours accrued PTO, monthly health stipend and annual gear stipend.
All crew members receive access to free produce (farmer food), break snacks, farmstand retail discounts, earned sick time, and seasonal bonuses.

For the 2026 season we’re hiring two expereinced Field Crew Members to join our team. Field Crew Members are the heart of our operation, working together to grow, harvest, and distribute vegetables and flowers for our CSA, farm stand, farmers markets, and wholesale partners.
This is hands-on, physically demanding, deeply rewarding work. Because our farm relies on diverse crops, evolving seasonal workflows, and farm-specific systems, all new crew members, regardless of prior experience, are considered “in training” for their first season with us. We provide ongoing training, documented procedures, and regular check-ins with leadership to support skill development, feedback, and growth on the farm.
The best candidates for our team are hardworking, curious, team-oriented, and ready for the full arc of the season, from cool spring mornings to the peak intensity of summer and fall.
Work Season and hours:
Season: May–mid November
Hours:
Daily work hours shift seasonaly with available daily light and work load, ranging from 9 am - 4 pm during the shoulder seasons, to 7 am - 4 pm in the height of the growing season.
Full-time: 30–40 hours/week, based on seasonal needs. Full-time crew typically work Monday–Friday full days, with the exception of market specialists who are scheduled Tuesday-Saturday.
Part-time: less than 4 days/30 hours/week
Additional Hours may be available for evening CSA distribution coverage, farm events, and weekend markets
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Field Crew work varies by season and may include:
Harvesting and post-harvest handling of vegetables, herbs, and flowers
Wash/pack and order fulfillment, including delivery
Transplant production and greenhouse work
Field and hoop house planting
Crop maintenance (weeding, trellising, pruning, row cover)
Field preparation, bed prep, and tarping
Cleaning, upkeep, and organization of farm spaces
Groundskeeping and basic farm maintenance
CSA distribution and fulfillment
Farm stand restocking and support
Farmers market support and staffing
Growth & Advancement Opportunities
Crew members who show interest and aptitude may be trained and scheduled in crew lead roles (e.g., harvest lead or wash/pack lead).
Returning or experienced crew members may also be offered specialist or assistant positions with additional responsibility and focused work in specific departments.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
At least one full growing season of experience working on a production vegetable farm
Ability to arrive to work on time and prepared.
Capacity for physically demanding work in varied weather conditions
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely squat, kneel, and stand for extended periods
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow direction
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and clear communication skills
Reliable transportation to and from the farm
Job Title: Farmers Market Specialists
We are hiring three Market Specialists for the 2026 season:
Lead Farmington Market Specialist - starting at $20/hr. This role works Saturday Farmington Markets throughout the season, with additional Kerrytown Wednesday markets as needed.
Co-Lead Kerrytown Market Specialist - starting at $20/hr. This role works Wednesday and Saturday markets throughout the season.
Assistant Kerrytown Market Specialist - starting at $18/hr. This role works Saturday Kerrytown markets throughout the season, with additional Wednesday markets as needed.
These positions are a specialization within our Field Crew team (see description above). When not scheduled as market, hired candidates can expect to work as members of our field crew on week days.
Farmers Market Specialists are responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the GTFC Farmers Market stall at the Kerrytown and Farmington Farmers Markets by carrying out documented processes and procedures for market prep, set-up, sales, and breakdown and ensuring a consistent and familiar customer experience by being a regular figure and operator of our markets.
These roles are ideal for dependable, people-oriented members, who have have expereince growing and cooking with vegetables, enjoy early mornings, customer interaction, and being a public-facing representative of our farm.
Work Season and hours:
Kerrytown Market: May- Mid-December:
Market work on Wednesday (lead position) and Saturday, 5 AM - 4 PM
On-farm market prep and crew harvest work on Tuesdays and Fridays, 7 AM - 4 PM
Market Specialists may also choose to work on-farm as a crew member on other days of the week to meet full-time benefit requirments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare for, set up, operate, and break down the GTFC market stall following established systems and checklists.
Support and collaborate with market staff during sales hours.
Provide excellent customer service and a fast-paced market environment.
Coordinate post-market handling of unsold produce, including sales to Argus Farm Stop, donations to Food Gatherers, and proper storage of unclaimed sellable produce.
Ensure market vehicles are returned to the farm and properly unpacked after each market.
LEAD MARKET SPECIALIST RESPONSIBILITIES:
In addition to the above, the Lead Market Specialist
Submit weekly market orders based on past sales records, current inventory, and seasonal sales goals.
Oversee market preparations and team readiness prior to market days.
Track sales goals and performance through out the season.
Communicate regularly with sales, fulfillment, and membership teams.
Work with the Membership Services Manager to coordinate CSA market pick up (kerrytown only).
Support market staffing and scheduling needs
ASSISTANT MARKET SPECIALIST RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work consistantly at Saturday markets and fill in for Wednesday markets as needed.
Support market operations and fill in for Lead market Specialist when needed
Work as a member of the field crew on non-market days.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong customer service skills and comfort interacting with public.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Comfort driving a cargo van or truck a trailer once trained.
Comfort using the Square POS, Airtable, and Google Sheets system once trained.
Organized, detail-oriented, and able to follow systems and checklists.
Confident giving direction and feedback, and working as a part of team.
Reliable, punctual, and comfortable with early mornings and physically demanding work.
